"In the Beginning..." the CommUNITY of Original Aurora, South East Commerce City, and Northeast Denver was void of Financial Services institution that support supported access to capital at affordable rates and embraced those without crystal clear credit and assets.
Asset-Based Community Development Community Development Group - a Steering Committee - was formed in JANUARY 2019 and founded in the basement of New Church hosted by Pastor, Russell Porter, Deceased.
Over the course of several meetings, Nicholas O. Walker, VetVest Group, LLC was nominated to serve as chairman. This nomination was made and confirmed and carried by neighbors, commuity and political leaders, and business leaders. This chairman has ben reconfirmed over the enduing years as an Independent Contractor.

At the intersection of purpose and innovation stands VetVest Group, LLC (VetVest)—a privately led, veteran-influenced corporation that proposed a strategic solution to a persistent challenge faced by the diaspora of people of color in Aurora, CO:
Access to Capital.
This issue, identified by families, business owners, and community leaders, directly impacts the pursuit of political parity and economic independence. In response, VetVest helped organize a Core Group known as the Asset-Based Community Development Group (ABCD)—active since 2018 in shaping inclusive, equity-focused development. That effort led to the creation of New Horizons Community Development Corporation (NHCDC), officially launched as an IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) on September 11, 2023, with envisioned set of programs, and currently in some stage of development today, beginning January 15, 2024.
🔗 Two Bookends. One Vision.
To serve both mission and market, VetVest and NHCDC now operate distinctly but collaboratively:
- NHCDC as a nonprofit steward of financial literacy, youth development, and wraparound services
- VetVest as a strategic capital vehicle—offering regulated access to private investment under SEC Regulation D Rule 504
This separation protects NHCDC’s IRS nonprofit determination while positioning VetVest to deploy innovative funding models that support real estate, infrastructure, and generational ownership.
Together, they form a unified solution—a Bookend Approach—designed to guide capital, culture, and community into alignment.

VetVest Group, LLCcollaborates with the New Horizons CDC (NHCDC)- an IRS Determined 501 b(3) launched 09-11-2023. NHCDC affords the VetVest Group to serve in the interests of public projects nationally and throughout US Territories.

In partnership with VetVest Group, LLC and other collaborators, NHCDC advances modular housing solutions to address homelessness in Aurora, Commerce City, and Denver. - 💸 Reg D Rule 504 Engagement

Our federal partners, through its SBA Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE), are invaluable resources that may not have made New Horizons CDC possible without the mentorship of:
- Mike Lyons
- Robert Sutherland
- Thomas Moore
These SCORE Executives played a key role in advising the ABCD Group in creating New Horizons as a CDC and not a local- or NCUA-Chartered institution.
While all are Financial Service tools that responds to the commUNITYs demand access to capital, the difference can be found it the basic course of businessoriginally required by neighbors, business, and organizational leaders in:
- NW Aurora: Wards I, II, III
- SE Commerce City
- NE Denver Districts 8, 9, and 11
NHCDC is a Givers Tool. Banks, Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFI), and Credit Unions are tools for Lenders.
