Living by Giving - a Ministry

🌅 Our Mission: Building Legacy Through Equity

At New Horizons CDC, we believe that narrowing the wealth gap begins with giving—of our Time, Talent, and Treasury—before asking others to act. Guided by our core philosophy, Giving First…Knowing, we prioritize service over strategy and relationships over transactions.

NHCDC leadership empower individuals, families, businesses, and organizations—especially those within or serving marginalized CommUNITYs—through culturally responsive education, mentorship, and strategic support. Our goal is to ensure equitable access to the tools, knowledge, and markets needed to:

• 🏡 Acquire assets

• 📈 Maintain and grow those assets

• 🛡️ Protect them across generations

• 🔁 Transfer them as legacies that build enduring wealth and empowerment

We’re not just building programs—we’re building people-powered legacies that uplift communities and transform futures.

Educational / Mentorimg Services and Tools

Community assets map

New Horizons' leadership and staff recognizes the issue of Narrowing the Wealth Gap is an educational and an experiential one. The experience, however, must be accomplished in an atmosphere, and with support resources, that reduces the risk of failure.

In order to develop the community to look like the Asset-Based Map shown, ALL stakeholders in the community must be heard.  ALL must "Buy-in." And ALL must contribute/commit Time, Talent, and Treasury towards the benefit of the community served.  New Horizons CDC is missioned to support the ideals of Asset-Based Community Development one project at a time: brick by brick, and one family or organization at a time.

Uniquely, the New Horizons CDC embraces policies and procedures that promote collaboration, clear and straight forward communications, and insists on employing state-of-the art technologies and knowledgeable subject matter experts.

For example:

  • Establishing relationships with educational institutions beginning at Middle School and continuing through college or Trade School.
  • Embracing and employing professional subject matter experts to ensure New Horizons students are equipped to succeed and prosper.
  • Insisting that New Horizons students pass along their knowledge to younger generations as they meet along the way.
  • Promoting curriculum that is uniquely developed for audiences that may be low-income, marginalized, credit or otherwise economically challenged, or those leaving the Criminal Justice system.
  • Considering also, those community organization whose leadership want to do a good work but, funding and other resources remain a challenge.

These policies complement a set of collaborative product offers like automotive rent-to--own, credit repair, downpayment assistance, housing rent-to-own, import/export trading for small business, and more.

Urban or Rural Residential Property Development

Location. Location. Location.

A high-quality, asset-builder is owning your home as opposed to renting your housing space.  NOW, NHCDC recommend buying housing tht has a multiplier effect.  That is, buying, or building, three or more units and living in one and leasing out the other units. In this scenario, you grow your asset, and, ideally, your mortgage costs are paid. Selecting good tenants, property maintenance and improvement are the biggest remaining consideration.

Close-quarter living, however, is not for everyone. Due to President Biden's Infrastructure Plan, you have opportunities to buy, build, or remodel urban or rural housing with renewable energy infrastructure with flood averse foundations and housing built with energy efficient building materials. All projects have significant tax incentives.

Workforce development is dependent upon available workplaces.

Can you envision building or operating a regional Agriculture Waste Recycling Plant on an Industrial Park Campus?

Consider, also, the small, "Ma and Pa" landowners or entrepreneurs who want small parcels of land to raise honeybees?

Perhaps you are working out of your garage in need of tools or supplies to provide product for your mail order small business.

Individuals or groups are invited to inquire and to join an active team of reality dreamers.
